A new sound system for the foyer of the Dortmund city hall. Also the council and six other rooms have been updated in terms of AV systems since March 2024.

Best view, even from the rear part of the hall: the LED screen has a diagonal of 220″. in der Diagonale. Seats with their backs to the screen have their own co-show display.

To avoid that the art glass in the background is obscured by the tvideo screen, two lifting columns move the 700 kg panels to a height of 180 cm, when needed.

In the rooms for political meetings, the new AV systems were integrated into the existing furniture. The tables are arranged in a circle. Challenging: a rather unusual depth of the tables at 110 cm.

Discreetly and stylishly integrated, the new AV equipment is a particularly sustainable enhancement of the building, as the existing inventory was included in the refurbishment as much as possible and aesthetically designed.

Until the displays in the center of the table were set up and aligned in such a way that all seats had a comparably good view of the content, intensive coordination with the architecture was required, as well as various proposed solutions in the form of detailed 3D renderings.

DESIGN PUT INTO PRACTICE:

STREAMING DEMOCRACY

New AV systems have been in use at Dortmund City Hall since March and council meetings can be followed online via a stream. Or from the citizens‘ hall or other meeting rooms if space in the council chamber becomes too tight. This makes debates and resolutions more transparent and political decisions more comprehensible – a good basis for democratic participation in public discussions.
